Sonic Site Awards are over, and Power Rings came in third in our category, losing the second place spot, which went to Sonic the Comic Online, by 1 vote and the first place spot, which went to Chaos Diamonds, by 20 votes. Better luck next year. Maybe next year I’ll actually realize we’ve been nominated and not realize that the voting phase has begun until the day before it ends.

I think Tails has shown more emotion in that first panel than every other strip we’ve done, combined.

Also, apologies to Yardley! for sticking him in a robot suit, but he’s never said what kind of Sonic chara he’d like to be to my knowledge. Not that I’m asking him to pick one. That way lies madness.

Sorry for the delay, we couldn’t get the sprites we needed on time, and Gear still hasn’t finished them. We’ll get on his ass to get them done and update as soon as we can, hopefully Tuesday. I’ll keep you updated.

Or, “Sonic in a Nutshell,” if you’d prefer. This has to be one of our longest lead-ups. The real fun begins next. See you then!

We missed Monday’s update, but we’ll try to get it up Tuesday. Me, I blame Digimon World: Dawn. And Kamal’s addiction to it.

We’re probably going to miss Monday’s update altogether and update again on Thursday. Don’t be surprised if we update on Wednesday, though.

Yep, filler again. Sorry, folks.

Currently, in the Sonic comic, Enerjak, Knuckles’ arch nemesis from his early days, has returned. Only thing is, this time it’s not Demitri, who is currently little more than a floating head in a bubble. There has been plenty of speculation as to who this new Enerjak is, considering that at the same time as Enerjak’s return, Knuckles has disappeared, leading many to make the obvious conclusion: Knuckles is Enerjak.

There are facts that disagree with that idea, though; most notably, I think, that Knuckles’ claws are actually part of his body (and not just glove decorations), while the new Enerjak doesn’t have clawed fists. But that doesn’t stop the speculation. Personally, my money is on Locke or Remmington, but I just know Ian is going to pull the old switcheroo on us all.

Story comic again on Saturday!

Kamal’s coming down with a cold, so I put together a quick comic to get the plot moving some.

So… we’re being written out of our own comic? What the crap?

In administrative news, continuing the forum drama of the last week or so, the strangest thing just happened. I woke up this morning and all of a sudden, the old forum had returned. Well, somewhat. It had merged with and overwritten the new forum, and the result was a monumental mess of duplicated boards, most displaying topics where there were really none, messing up all the board categories, duplicating member accounts, and just in general confusing the shit out of me. I have worked to clean up the board, deleting any of the newly created boards and trying to restore order. I deleted duplicated accounts, which all belonged to people who re-registered after the board crash last week, so to those people, your old accounts should now work again. Use those to log in. The good news about all this is that the old posts are all now recovered, apparently. The bad news is that all the posts created in the last week since the board crash are now gone. I’m sorry to everyone for this inconvenience, believe me, if I knew what was going on I’d tell you. For now, keep posting, restart any discussions that were lost, and try to have fun. If anything else weird happens, I’ll keep you informed.

Next story comic on Saturday. Sorry for the delay.

He’s Got High Hopes

Regular comic resumes Monday, but for now here’s some filler as a cop-out.

I’m sure by now you’ve all heard that Sonic is going to be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And if you haven’t, welcome to the internet. The range of reaction to his appearance has run an interesting gamut from outright rage and declaration that Nintendo has lost a sale, to belief that Sonic could very well be a top-tier fighter in the upcoming game. But there is one reaction that I have heard that seems to sum it up.

Like it or not, Sonic hasn’t produced many good games at all since Sonic Adventure 2, or even earlier depending on your perspective. Considering his declining popularity, it’s not unreasonable to assume that he’s in there as simply a fanservice; that he’s present simply to satisfy the fans of his from his glory days on the Genesis, and try to capitalize on the showdown that just about every video gamer from that age was longing for: Sonic vs. Mario. One on one. No olympic games. Just ass-kicking.

I am by no means saying that Sonic’s appearance in Brawl is a bad thing. Hell, I love watching him fight, and am sure that when the game does come out I’ll log plenty of hours beating the snot out of people with Sonic. But for me, the knowledge that Sonic is in the game has been… surreal. Every time I watch a video of Sonic in battle, I have to think for a moment, “Am I really seeing this?” But then my inner fanboy takes over and I wallow in the carnage.

Love him or hate him, Sonic’s in Brawl. Whether you want to play as him, beat the crap out of him, or set up the dream match you know you want to, he’s there, and I for one am glad to see him. All I really know for sure is that I have never been more excited about Brawl since the first trailer was revealed last year. Feb. 10th can’t come fast enough.

In other news, polls for the Sonic Site Awards close tomorrow! Vote for us!

It’s looking unlikely we’ll have a comic on Tuesday, and I have a midterm on Wednesday, so no filler from me. Sorry, all.

This is still one of the things I miss from the old Knuckles series, gone, lo, these many years. The echidna society and history that was built up during the book’s run was a great source of amazement for me. And how Knuckles himself was dealt with, a capacity to be hard-headed and mature, bold yet sometimes bashful, a real sense of humour. It’s why he’ll always be my fav, ahead of Sonic by a great margin. And why I’ll always be ticked off with Sega for treating him like they do.

G30FF

It happened.

It actually happened.

Sonic the Hedgehog is in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Over the last two days, somehow my webhost lost the entire forum DB. I tried to get a backup, but they couldn’t locate any. I was able to repair the forum so it runs again, but unfortunately this means that everything has been lost, including posts and logins. You’ll have to recreate your accounts, but the forum is once again usable. Happy posting!

Can’t reach Kamal, so you’ll probably have to wait until Saturday for the next comic. Sorry, folks!

This Monday is Canadian Thanksgiving. Happy Turkey Day to everyone! I know it’s been a while since Riders came out, but I’m still a Wave fanboy. So sue me.

The authors all spent today celebrating with their families, so check for an actual story comic some time Monday or Tuesday.

No, seriously.
